MPNP Recommendations for the Management of Neuropathic Cancer Pain

Neuropathic pain in cancer patients is an undertreated medical condition. The pain can either be caused by tumour involvement (eg, infiltration or compression) of adjacent neural structures, or as a result of neural damage caused by cytotoxic agents used in cancer treatment.

This recommendation from the Multidisciplinary Panel on Neuropathic Pain (MPNP) provides an overview on the pathophysiology and diagnosis of neuropathic cancer pain. The guidelines also review the management options available and conclude with an appendix of evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options.
